Adoption
Adoption Process
Each and every rat in our mischief is a beloved pet and only the best homes will do for them.
Please read the contract below and if you agree with the terms outlined go ahead and fill in the form below to go onto the wait list. You can check back on the website or our Facebook Page to see current and upcoming litters.
When babies are about 6 weeks old an email will go out to everyone on the wait list to confirm if you are still interested, from there a shortlist will be put together. Please be patient as the number of babies born in a litter is out of my control. No deposit is required to join the wait list or at the time of responding to 'babies are nearly ready' emails.
At 8 weeks old the babies are ready for their new home, they must be adopted in same gender pairs or trios except under exceptional circumstances. Please be sure to come with a suitable carrier when you arrive to collect.
The adoption fee is $50 per rat which includes a basic Adoption Pack (pre-mix food, snuggle sack, toy & treats). In addition you can upgrade to the 'deluxe pack' (full size lab blocks & forrage mix, snuggle sack, hammock, toys, treats & something for the humans) for an additional cost of $25 per adoption.
If you have any questions regarding the contract or need any advice on getting set up to care for your rats please do not hesitate to ask.
If at any time you are no longer able to keep or properly care for rats you adopt from me please get in touch and I will take them back, no questions asked.
Homing Ethics
We will seek the best possible homes for every rat. Rats will not be adopted out under 8 weeks of age.
This rattery will only home healthy animals who are sound in temperament and free from parasites.
This rattery will ensure the adopter is fully informed when adopting an animal which has a known defect, health, or other physical condition or any deviation from the standard.
This rattery will take responsibility for any offspring produced by a doe which was unknowingly pregnant when adopted.
This rattery will take back or find a home for any animal whose placement is not successful.
This rattery will provide adopters instructions on feeding, housing, and general care.
This rattery will provide the new owner with ongoing support and assistance with problems that may arise.
All rats from this rattery are recorded in a database with the adopters name and email address for monitoring the health of our rats.
